01

An experienced guide

I've been exploring Algonquin Park for years (it's my all time fav place), and I know how to significantly increase our chances of wildlife encounters.

02

Photography Tips + Tricks

If you're interested in upping your photography game, I'm happy to provide you with photography instruction along the way. From technical aspects to creative applications, I'm looking forward to helping you achieve dream shots!

03

Optional Canoe or Boat add on

Depending on your preference, I can also provide a canoe OR stable, flat bottom boat (with trolling motor) to help us get out on the water and experience Algonquin in an enhanced way.

04

A Secret...

I discovered a sneaky way to increase our chances of finding wildlife which we'll be trying out. Once you learn what it is, you're free to use it on your own in the future, too!
(applicable May through Oct)

The Details

Algonquin Park is an incredible land of forests, lakes, and diverse wildlife. It has a certain allure which is difficult to put into words but is better being conveyed by photography. I've spent countless hours exploring the Park and experiencing much of its flora and fauna and I'm looking forward to guiding you to the best of my ability. We will travel (separately) by vehicle, do some casual hiking (dependant on ability), and if desired even get out on a canoe/boat (OPTIONAL).

WHO IS THIS EXPERIENCE GEARED TOWARD?
Primarily beginner and intermediate photographers who are looking to:

- hone in on their photography skills + try new things
- photograph landscapes, plants, and any wildlife we encounter along the way

*PLEASE NOTE* while I know Algonquin Park well and have a good understanding of animal behaviours, I simply cannot guarantee wildlife encounters.

*IF YOU MAINLY WANT MOOSE* Please consider joining me on my Moose Quest Tour (where I offer a moose sighting guarantee)

*IF YOU MAINLY WANT LOONS* Please consider joining me on my Loon Quest Tour

General Itinerary:
We'll start early - probably before sunrise, to increase our chances of seeing wildlife and capturing that early Algonquin Park feeling. Any given day may involve driving, short hikes, and maybe some time spent on the water if you select the canoe/boat package. We'll stop for breaks and meals (not included) when the conditions for photography slow down. The afternoons are typically our "slow time", since the lighting for landscapes are less favourable and wildlife encounters are less frequent. We'll pick up again by evening and typically go until dusk.

  • What level of photography experience is recommended?
All levels are welcome (even non-photographers who are simply nature enthusiasts). The tour is, however, primarily geared towards beginner and intermediate photographers who are looking to learn photography tips and tricks along the way.
  • What exactly does this tour entail?
There are many different areas I can guide you, and it will largely depend on time of year and the goals you have in mind. For instance - for loons, I might recommend we get out on my boat on a certain lake. For moose, I might recommend a certain short hike, or a certain area to drive around. For lake sunrises I have certain areas in mind. For autumn colours, there are a whole new set of places I would take us. Therefore, in order to curate the best possible experience for you, I look forward to learning your hopes + goals, and each tour will be unique!
  • Will we see wildlife?
Though I'd love to be able to, I simply cannot guarantee we'll see wildlife. However, there are certain things we can do to vastly increase our chances depending on which animals you are most interested in seeing. (If you are REALLY serious about moose, consider joining my Moose Quest trip which guarantees moose sightings) (If you are REALLY serious about loons and chicks, consider joining my Loon Quest trip)
  • What time of year is best for wildlife?
I'd recommend May and early June for most wildlife, though autumn can be good too.
  • Where does the tour take place?
The location will be at a designated meeting spot along highway 60 in Algonquin Provincial Park. After booking, more information will be disclosed. We will travel around together but in separate vehicles.
  • What about bad weather?
Aside from severe weather, we plan to run the trip rain or shine.
  • Will I need my own transportation?
Yes - guests will meet with me at an established location, and we will travel around together but in separate vehicles.
  • Are accommodations provided if I choose multiple days of guiding?
Guests are responsible for their own accommodations. There are many options in Huntsville + Dwight (west end of Algonquin) and Whitney (east end) in addition to camping in Algonquin Park.
  • What is the maximum group size?
4 guests in addition to myself. I also offer private guiding on request.
  • What is the cancellation policy?
A 50% refundable deposit is required at the time of booking. This is 100% refundable up until 60 days prior to the trip start date at which point it is non refundable. The remaining 50% is required 30 days prior to the trip start date (a reminder in advance of this approaching date will be sent out).

Participants will be required to sign a liability waiver prior to the tour.
